Working From Home? Here's How to Keep Kids Entertained for the Holidays

Keeping kids entertained over the Christmas break is always a challenge. Add in having to work from home, trying to stay within your household bubble and lots of our usual attractions being closed, and you've got a recipe for a really frustrating few weeks.

That said, there's no reason why this can't be a fun, relaxing holiday to end a busy, stressful year, so we've put together a few festive things that might help to keep kids entertained whilst you work.

1. Baking

Whilst this probably does require at least some adult supervision when it comes time to put things in the oven, there are plenty of brilliant baking sets that come pre-mixed. All they'll need to do is follow the instructions and have fun!

This contains everything you'll need to make Oat and Raisin cookies for Santa.

2. Decorating Cookies

If you can't make cookies from scratch, decorating them is a great way of keeping kids entertained! Simple icing is easy to make and colour, and then let your kids go wild making cookies for Santa.

4. Letters to Santa

An oldie but a goodie- asking your kids to write to Santa is a great way of filling up an afternoon- you could even buy some nice stationery and task them with making their letters look pretty.

5. Reindeer Food

Mix some edible glitter with some oatmeal and whatever else you think reindeer might like and leave it out for Santa's reindeer to eat when they arrive. If you're feeling particularly environmentally friendly, why not try making it with bird-friendly ingredients and then scattering it outside?

6. Paper Snowflakes

One of the easiest Christmas crafts to put together- if you're looking to make it harder there are lots of templates online for more complicated designs.

7. Paper Chain

Challenge your kids to see how long a paper chain they can put together in a day- you can either cut the paper yourself or just buy pre-cut strips from anywhere that sells decorations. Once you've done, you'll have lovely decorations to hang up, that your kids will be able to say they made themselves.

8. Games

Before the holidays start in earnest, try stocking up on some games that'll keep your kids entertained.
